Loungerie

Ah, it’s Black Friday once again. For some people that means getting up at the crack of dawn to go duke it out with other bargain hunting go-getters over plasma screen televisions and video game machines. HA! I don’t care how good the sales are today, you’ll never catch me getting up that early on my day off unless catching a flight to some exotic land is involved. For me, the day after Thanksgiving is all about sleeping off my tryptophan dose, eventually rolling out of bed, fixing myself one of those “leftover sandwiches” (OH MY GOD THEY ARE SO GOOD!), eating it in front of one of those somewhat challenging but not quite ‘weekend paper caliber’ Friday issue crossword puzzles, taking a nap due to a second dose of tryptophan, waking up, fixing myself a sandwich… you get the picture.
As you can imagine, I don’t typically spend Black Friday (or as I call it, ‘lazy sack friday’) donning high heels and a bustier… although my male roommates might get a kick out of that. No, lazy days call for comfy gear, and comfy gear is how I roll. However, my cohabitants need not complain, because I’m not what you’d call a ’sweatpants and an oversized t-shirt’ girl either. There are ways to loaf around and still look pretty hot. I like to call it loungerie. The world of cotton has gotten a whole lot sexier in the past few years. Many designers make soft and breathable garments that are much fancier looking than your standard t-shirt or white cotton panty (not that i don’t love WCPs too. Love you WCPs) thanks to super sheer weaves like those used by designers such as Poet and Skin Lingerie, or sophisticated cotton crepes like those used by Araks and Dessous. When I have on my Lilly Boyshorts, Superfine Pima Gauze Keyhole Top, and a pair of cuddly Miss Dater thigh high socks, I feel 100% fit for the sofa, without looking like a scrub. Because, you know, when I look like a scrub, I feel like a scrub, and when I feel like a scrub, I act like a scrub. It’s a vicious circle, and as much as a do-nothing day is the best thing in the world every once in a while, you have to keep it special, you know?
