gnarly!

Posted on December 15, 2007 by Sara Yurman

Sometimes when I’m sitting around, listening to Pet Sounds, I have this longing to be a beach hippy (much like how when the first hot days of summer come, I tend to have this burning desire to dress like a 70’s mom, and in the winter time I often long to look like Mary Tyler Moore). Those tomboyish beach hippy girls from the 60’s and 70’s, with their ratty hair and their perfect little bodies… you’ve seen them in old surf/skate footage, or at least in movies like Dogtown and Z Boys or Endless Summer. Sigh. I want to cooly slink around snapping my gum and wearing next-to-nothing, but not looking slutty. I’d love to get away with never doing a thing to my hair. I’ve always had a thing for old OP.

What does this have to do with lingerie? Perhaps nothing. But sometimes when I get inspired I actually do something about it. Maybe I have a couple 70’s swimsuit inspired bra/panty sets up my sleeve. Maybe a super low cut hipster bikini with a halter bra, or a very boyish boyshort with a string bikini type bra top. CUTE! If I had those things then I could walk around all day wearing them and knowing that, even though I don’t actually know how to surf, the beach bum spirit lives in me… like a salty little secret.

Now all I need to do is learn how to sew.

p.s. Speaking of inspiration… I have an idea for an art project that I want to do, but I don’t want to say too much about it, not over the internet. I need volunteers though. Women. In the Portland area. Not models, but volunteers. You don’t have to physically do anything like model or sit for a casting, but you do have to be comfortable with me prying into your personal space a little bit. This is marginally lingerie related as well. If you’re interested please write to info@lilleboutique.com. Thanks!
