Just a reminder that the English Dept.’s annual fashion show, A Novel Romance, is happening this Sunday, so if you, like me, prefer sartorial entertainment to Superbowl mayhem, then this event is for you. If you haven’t already rsvped, you should definitely act quickly because the list is just about full. This is, hands down, the best bridal show in town, featuring one of a kind designs from independent local fashion mavens like Adam Arnold, Kate Towers and Elizabeth Dye, as well as flowers by Ink & Peat, accessories by Twigs & Honey, and gift registry by Canoe. Lille will be unveiling new bridal trousseau lingerie from Gatsby by Sarah Wizemann, Stella McCartney, Elle Macpherson Boudoir and The Lake and Stars. Hope to see you there!

The Valentine’s Gift Set from Stella McCartney is one of my favorite things in the store right now. Comprised of a black silk panty and camisole with straps that tie into big floppy bows, it comes in a beautiful pale pink box with grosgrain ribbon trim and a clear window, so you can gaze lovingly at the set when you’re not wearing it. This is particularly appealing to me, since I keep my lingerie in a glass topped case so that it’s the first thing I see when I walk into my closet. It’s all about treating yourself right in the morning.
While we’re on the subject of Valentine’s Day, I want to let you know about a little Anti-VD party I’m having on Friday the 13th. The details will be coming soon, but heads up single ladies - mark your calendars. You won’t want to miss this.

The amazing Boogie Briefs from Wundervoll have finally arrived. These little beauties were backordered due to popular demand, but they’ve finally arrived, and I’m thrilled to get a pair for myself. They retail at $180, which may seem like a bit much for panties, but these are so much more! The high-waisted cut, coupled with two rows of sailor-style buttons make me think that I could get away with showing them peeking out over a skirt, almost like a belt. I hate to encroach on whale-tail territory, but I think peek-a-boo panties could work, given the right outfit…am I wrong? Feel free to discuss in the comments section.

There is nothing worse than being trapped in bed for days on end - whether you’re sick with the flu, laid up with a sprained ankle, or recovering from minor surgery, it’s always a drag. Sure, the first half day of bad tv, ice cream and painkillers is kinda fun, and it’s made better if you have a sweetheart waiting on you hand and foot (thanks honey!) but inevitably, ennui sets in and all you want is to get back to the real world. For me, that means work in some form or another, so at least blogging brings some sense of normalcy. I thought I’d talk briefly about the type of loungewear that can make your days a little brighter when you’re bedridden. (more…)

We received a few lovely new styles from Bodas yesterday, along with replenishment of some old favorites. The Narcisse Mesh Balcony Bra in Pebble Grey won’t be around for much longer, as it is a seasonal style, so get it while you can! The Narcisse Smooth Tactel Padded Balcony Bra is sure to please fans of the Eres Tara bra at a fraction of the cost ($110 vs. $315!) Add to that the bonus of a matching Suspender Belt and Bikini - I predict it will be a new best-seller. I also decided to try out their classic sheer mesh series - the seamfree underwire bra, low hipster and thong, half slip and beautiful full slip (pictured above) are perfect basics with elegant lines and flat seams for ultimate invisibility under clothing. All foundations should be this pretty!

We just received a huge shipment of Stella McCartney Spring ‘09 lingerie, which prompted me to squeal in delight. The new colors are spectacular - an intense tealish blue for the Dolly Snogging and a dusty mauve lavender for the Grace Waking and Eve Giggling. We also got a few limited edition Valentine’s Day Gift sets - gorgeous black silk camis and undies that come in beautiful packaging.
Our first shipment of Elle McPherson Boudoir arrived, as well, and it’s a wonderful sign of the good things to come. The Boudoir range is vintage-inspired, made with materials like sand-washed silk and archived 1940s French Leavers Lace. The Deep Orient Blue set that just arrived has contrasting yellow topstitching and ribbon trim on the adorable garterpanty and supportive underwire bra. I’ll be posting new pix soon, but just wanted to let the LIL readers know asap!

Lately, I’ve had a lot of requests for tasteful lingerie to be worn for boudoir photo shoots. It’s a great idea for a wedding gift to your future husband or just a nice way to immortalize your goods on film. One of the best local photographers specializing in pin-ups is Marne Lucas of Opaline Pictures, who commutes back and forth from NYC to PDX and travels around the world for destination weddings on a routine basis. If you’ve thought about boudoir photography in the past, but hesitated for fear of cheesy or tacky results, then I highly recommend contacting Marne, who brings her discerning eye to the delicate task at hand. Just look how cute that photo is! Who wouldn’t want a pic of themselves looking adorable in ruffly boyshorts?

The amazing VPL bikinis are in! The gold one is particularly eye-catching, so if you’re looking to stand out this summer, then this one is for you! Made from a metallic/tangerine/bronze colored lycra with nude and gray trim, this sassy suit definitely has an 80s vibe and could easily be worn to a club for a night of dancing if that’s your thing. I’m a bit more subdued, so the teal colored version suits me better, but I admire anyone bold enough to rock that much bling on the beach!

The sleek silk knit lingerie from the luxury German line, Wundervoll, has finally arrived, and it is even better than I expected. Because the jersey is so fine, it’s incredibly form-fitting, with enough stretch to be comfortable, but more bounce-back than the similarly made organic cotton. Several of the bras have multi-functional straps so that you can wear them in more ways than one, and the little details really make the garments. Contrast top-stitching, delicate buttons and signature plaques are just a few of the design factors that make this lingerie so special. Unfortunately, my favorite item - the Boogie Briefs - is on backorder, but I’m hoping they will get here soon. Keep an eye on the webstore over the next few days for the Boogie Bra and Cami, Rock n’ Roll Bra and Top, Boom-Chick-a-Boom Bra and Shorts, Overtone Bra, and Pizzicato Thong. The sizing is German, so a 36A is equivalent to the bralettes from Araks or Lake and Stars size Small (approximately 32A-B), a 38B about a Medium (approximately 34B), and 40B about a Large (36B.)
