We’re so excited about our new model, Angela, that we just had to share the news. A recent Portland transplant from the DC area, she brings a metropolitan chic to our current ad campaign, and looks fantastic in just about every shot. I’m so jealous of her muscle tone; not to mention how good she looks in yellow! I could never wear yellow, which is sad because we’re getting canary yellow bras from Araks soon and they are FABULOUS. WHEW! I’m back and I’m busy. Here’s a quick run down of what I loved (and can tell you about, which actually isn’t much).

Araks has this amazing ribbed cotton set. The top is cut kind of like a bikini top and the bottom is high waisted and cut on the bias. I think I might order a set for myself. She’s also got a lot of the old favorites in some pretty new colors.

Skin is going organic and we love it.

Um, everything else is still kind of under lock-and-key for now. I’ll report back when I’m able to report more.

Summer really needs to hurry up and get here, because the first shipment of swimwear has arrived at Lille Boutique. Actually, I think I’ll just go somewhere tropical, because there’s no way I’m waiting until June to break these out.

It’s official - the first bachelorette parties of the 2008 wedding season happened this weekend. We had five customers come in for presents, and only two were for the same party. Thank goodness for this lovely Portland weather! The flowers are about to bloom, the birds are singing and love is in the air. What better time to start thinking about bridal lingerie for your upcoming wedding? (more…)

In case you weren’t aware, we do special orders quite often here at Lille Boutique. We’re happy to help our customers get the right fit when we’re sold out of their size, rather than encourage them to buy something that isn’t perfect. And, whenever possible, we can try to order a style from a previous season for a customer if the designer has any left in stock. We recently made one online shopper very happy when we were able to replenish her Eres Spring ‘07 stock for her, in spite of being sold out of her size. She had previously bought the Eres Darlene Bra from our online shop, and she loved it so much, she decided to order two more! I can personally attest to the wonder of that bra, so I understand the desperation. Fortunately, we were able to accommodate, and the bras were shipped out immediately. (more…)

It’s market time and I’m off to snow-struck New York to meet with a few Lille favorites such as Araks, Skin, Eberjey, and Princesse Tam Tam and see their new collections.  I’ve also got a few other “top secret” not-yet-Lille-affiliated designers  up my sleeve.  Buying is so exciting!  Hopefully I’ll come back with lots of good news and amazing new things to tell you all about.

The first time I ever heard about bamboo fabric, my first thought was “Whaaaaat? HOW?” then I immediately imagined a scratchy, burlap like material, as though papyrus paper was fashioned into a garment. Boy was I wrong. Bamboo is amazingly soft and stretchy. It’s almost scary. As for the “Whaaaaat? HOW?” portion, I went to www.wisegeek.com for the answers and they had some pretty incredible things to say about how Bamboo is comfortable, sustainable, absorbant, hypo-allergenic, and anti-bacterial (stink resistant) … (more…)

Ok, so technically we have another month to go, but lately Portland has been teasing everyone with the kind of unseasonably warm weather that inspires rampant Spring Cleaning and bike rides galore. How much do you love the first few days of the thaw, when the city feels like it’s waking up from a long, dreary slumber? For me, this is the best time of year; the time when I start to get inspired to do more creative projects, or at least get out of the house more and do something fun every day. That also translates to more dressing up! It’s hard to summon up the desire to don a fantastic outfit when you have to cover it up with layer upon layer to keep warm, but when it’s 60 degrees and sunny, I just want to wear a pretty summer dress and some fantastic lingerie. Great news, onesie fans… more rompers have arrived, straight from the designer who brought the style back - Sophie Simmons from Dessous! The Charlotte Romper (shown in Vintage) has the most beautiful art-deco inspired embroidery in a soft ivory that would look just perfect peeking out from under a blouse or sweater. Fitted with adjustable, criss-cross straps, an elasticized waist and a loose, comfortable cut, this one is sure to fit any figure. It’s modest enough to wear around the house on its own, even if you have roommates. I admire the girls who can rock the romper with tights and heels around town, but if you’re not that ballsy, you can layer this one with a skirt and a v-neck tee. Just in time for Spring - let’s hope this gorgeous Portland weather we’ve been having isn’t just a tease!

Lisi Valle…Lisi is a relative newcomer to the lingerie market, having worked in ready-to-wear for over 18 years. Her new collection reflects that significant experience, with a nod to the classics - intricately constructed silk camis that fit beautifully are among our favorites. Her color palette is exquisite - everything from the perfect lipstick red to a cool icy silver. We can’t wait to see it in the shop!

The satiny charmeuse top of this beautiful new Dessous creation recalls the glamorous 40’s. The Deco-inspired embroidery brings to mind the roaring 20’s. The cuddly viscose body reminds one why Dessous gear is so great to begin with. Can I get Dessous style viscose sheets made somewhere? I want to be swaddled in this stuff every night. It’s soft and heavy and a little stretchy and it feel cool on the skin, yes I mean cool temperature. You know how high thread count sheets feel cool? This material feels like high thread count jersey sheets. It’s delightful. Now, the Jasmine Slip takes something awesomely comfortable and makes it insanely elegant and sophisticated too. I feel like if I buy this slip (yeah, I’m thinking about it) then I’d always feel like I was getting away with something. Vintage Valentino Dresses aren’t supposed to feel as comfortable as Hospital Scrubs, and yet…

VPL, by Victoria Bartlett…Visible Panty Lines started out as a lingerie line in 2003, but the designer began phasing out the panties as she focused more on her ready-to-wear line. Now, thanks to celebrity fans like Victoria Bekham, pictured on the cover of W Magazine in VPL lingerie, many of the old favorites are back by popular demand. These sporty styles feature industrial fixtures, geometric designs and amazing fabrics, including a Japanese cashmere knit that bounces back, no matter how much you stretch it. Sara and I want one of every piece, in every color!  They’ll start rolling in around mid-June, so make sure you’re on the mailing list, because these are sure to sell out quickly.

New in for spring! Lille will soon be receiving our first shipment of Scrolling Message LED Display Bras*. We’re very excited about this new line by designer/performance artist Janet Hansen, and have been pre-selling these little beauties like crazy**, so call ahead and get yours while they last. The battery operated scrolling LED screen lights up red and can be programmed to say whatever the wearer wishes. I think I want mine to say “speak softly and carry a big stick” but I’m not 100% sure why… (more…)

The most exciting thing about February (besides my birthday, of course) is the discovery of new lines at market week.
